HALLOWEEN IN PGH By Rocky Chan
Last October, SYA-ers Brought Joy to PGH,

Halloween is a time of the year that is made for the child in all of us. Candy by the bucketful and kooky costumes worn by kids of all ages are the hallmarks of this festive day.
This year, the Single Young Adult (SYA) Community brought Halloween to the Philippine General Hospital. Gamely wearing costumes, the SYA-ers brought the treats to the Children’s Wards of the PGH, shared prayers with the individual families of the children confined at the ward, and threw an all-out Halloween party at the Silahis ng Kalusugan High School of the PGH. I have always been in awe of the generosity of the SYA-ers. More than just the donations collected to fill the loot bags or chipping in to provide the catering for the Halloween Party, the SYA-ers are more than willing to share their time for the various ministries of the SSAP. For this event, Sabs Soriano took the lead, ably organizing the party, transforming the Silahis ng Kalusugan classroom into a Halloween venue. The students, along with their parents and teachers, were just as game, with most of them wearing costumes and ready with their prepared song and dance numbers. It was definitely a fun time for all.
Greetings of Peace!
Have a meaningful Christmas by being part of the Light A Parol Christmas fundraising project led by the Continuing Catholic Development (CCD) Ministry of Santuario de San Antonio Parish!
How can you help? Each parol you buy will have your name and represent a gift from you. And by Christmas Eve, you would have helped fill the church not only with parols but with your acts of generosity as well. Now on its 19th year, this project has been the only channel of CCD to raise funds for the Franciscan Missions and various charitable organizations that have been part of the Ministry’s Outreach programs: Bahay Maria, Childhope Asia Philippines, Little Sisters of Assumption, Virlanie Foundation, Hands On Manila, Habitat for Humanity, Mother Teresa Spinelli’s Treasures, St. Hannibal Rogate Center, Friendship Home, Marillac Hills, Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc., CCD Disaster Relief Fund, to name a few. With the devastating havoc wrought by “Typhoon Yolanda”, our hearts and prayers go out to the men, women and children in Leyte, Samar, and other affected areas; and in a Christian and practical sense, we have decided that a substantial portion of this year’s Light A Parol funds, will also go to these survivors, our brothers and sisters in Christ. Pledge forms are available at the LAP Booth at the entrance of the main Church.
Please turn these forms in at the LAP Booth, at the CCD Office or SSAP Parish Office and Official Receipts will be given to you. Thank you for your support of the project. You will surely make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate! Merry Christmas!
